Back in the saddle

Today we stocked up on some items we normally buy. Mayren found several coupons. We saved about $18!
I decided to start giving Mayren half of the money we save as incentive! Hopefully she will keep interest so we can both continue to benefit!

No Newspaper Coupon Inserts on Holiday Weekends

If you buy the Sunday paper week by week just for the Coupon Inserts, you should be aware that there are three types of Coupon Inserts and they aren’t always included every Sunday! For example this week Sunday was December 18th and there were no inserts!
The coupon Inserts are commonly abbreviated this way:
Smart Source - SS
Red Plum - RP
Procter & Gamble - PG
You plan ahead to determine which weeks to purchase the Sunday paper by checking the Coupon Insert Schedule. Here’s an example of a Web site that has the 2012 schedule for all 3 inserts:

Extreme Coupon Walmart Trip #3

On this trip we learned the value of Price Matching! At first we were happy to have earned $5.25 by purchasing seven Kashi Bars with coupons that were in excess of the cost of the bars. The overage was applied to the purse that should have cost $5.00 but we got it for .40! On the way out we saw another shopper with several jars of mayonnaise in her cart so we asked her if we missed a coupon or something, she explained that K-Mart had published .99 on 30oz mayo. Walmart had it on their shelf on the end cap under a sign that read "Low Price" $4.89 needless to say we picked up 6 months worth! Since we didn’t have the insert we told the cashier who had a copy. If she didn’t have a copy there we could have gone to customer service for them to look it up. Of course its always easier to bring the insert with the price match when possible to avoid delays. Total price about $5.40 for approx $40.00 worth of stuff!

Extreme Coupon Walmart Trip #2

On this trip we found out there is a limit on how many Kashi Bar Coupons we can use on one transaction. The register beeped and the cashier said we had reached the limit at 7. We still bought the 8 bars and saved one coupon for tomorrow. The Duck Tape had $1.00 off coupons which I realized later should have been 1 per household, but we used one on each of the three rolls. The packing tape was actually about $3.00 but I needed more. All said and done we brought home about $22.00 worth of stuff for $1.88!

Extreme Coupon Walmart Trip #1

This is Mayren. As an 8 year old girl, she has way more time than her parents to attempt Extreme Couponing! On this day she took advantage of $2.00 off coupons for Kashi Bars that only cost $1.25 at Walmart. Walmarts coupon policy states "If coupon value exceeds the price of the item, the excess may be given to the customer as cash or applied toward the basket purchase." so we actually gained .75 for each bar we took for free! The Band-Aids and Excedrin were significantly discounted with coupons the Cheerios coupon was only $1 off two boxes, but we needed more anyway. At the checkout counter we reduced our bill from Approx. $22.00 to about $6.00! We brought the stores coupon policy with us and had to explain to the cashier that one coupon per purchase is not the same as one coupon per transaction. Each of the items we were buying was a purchase even though they were all in fact included in one transaction. The manager was called to clear things up for the cashier. All of the coupons used were printed online.
